Generosity Brings Cognitive and Emotional Benefits

What Buddha knew about generosity long ago has now been confirmed by neuroscientists. Giving to others, rather than oneself, is associated with enhanced connectivity in certain brain areas, resulting in greater happiness.  The University of Zurich scientists who conducted the research were able to show structural brain changes in the areas of the brain associated with empathy and social cognition, and that these changes were directly related to feelings of happiness.
