The Age of the Learner: What Schools Need to Do Differently Now
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is changing the nature of school and work. When information is instant and answers are easily generated, the challenge shifts from finding the right answer to evaluating, adapting, and applying knowledge in situations where the path isn’t clear. This shift—now being described as the rise of a “brain economy”—is redefining what it means for students to be prepared.
Yet in classrooms today, the development of cognitive capacity or “brain capital” remains unaddressed: more students are struggling, more support is being provided, and results are often inconsistent. In this session, we’ll explore how these trends are connected and what they reveal about what students actually need to succeed in the Age of the Learner. We’ll look at the role of cognitive capacity in learning, behavior, and confidence—and what schools can do differently to make learning more effective without adding more to an already full plate.
