Pixels the Size of Neurons May Transform Brain Imaging
Technology has been reducing the size of pixels on a screen to the point where scientists believe they can focus on brain activity at the level of individual neurons. That suggests that when looking at the parts of the brain that are activated during different types of activities, the conclusions can be much more precise than fMRI scans can represent today. Not only that, the scanning devices will be wearable and cost far less than today’s costly MRI machines. It sounds like science fiction but it’s science.
