Multitasking Does Not Make Us More Productive
There is plenty of evidence that multitasking is not what we think it is. It is really more like fast-tasking — switching back and forth between tasks very quickly. Of course, sometimes we have no choice … like cooking dinner while we keep an eye on the kids … or driving the car while a passenger gives us directions. A new study showed the negative impact of distractions on memory. The study also indicates that when we are trying to multitask, we can prioritize the most important information to be remembered. Yet another reason to make the effort to focus on the most important things!
