Here’s our holiday puzzle for 2025.  Enjoy!

Five BrainWare team members exchanged gifts. Each gave a different gift, wrapped it in a different color, and chose it based on a different cognitive strength. Use the clues to determine who gave which gift, what color it was wrapped in, and which cognitive strength inspired it.

Clues

4. Lou gave the juggling balls, but not in a red or blue package.
5. The noise-canceling headphones were wrapped in gold.
6. Julie’s gift was inspired by attention and wasn’t the bonsai tree.
7. Roger didn’t use silver or green wrapping.
8. The person who gave the hourglass timer values working memory.
9. Rudolph didn’t give the gift wrapped in blue.
10. Rudolph gave the puzzle book.

Here’s a step-by-step solution:

1. From Clue 4, Lou gave the juggling balls, and they are not wrapped in Red or Blue. That leaves Silver, Green or Gold. Gold is the headphones (Clue 5) and Green is the bonsai tree (Clue 1). The only wrapping color left is Silver So Lou = Juggling Balls, and Silver.  According to Clue 3, the package wrapped in silver was inspired by visualization. So Lou = Juggling Balls, Silver, Visualization.
2. Clue 10 tells us that Rudolph gave the puzzle book and clue 9 tells us it wasn’t wrapped in blue. The remaining colors are Red, Gold and Green. Green goes with bonsai (Clue 1) and Gold goes with headphones (Clue 5), so Rudolph’s package is wrapped in Red. His cognitive skill can’t be Visualization (assigned to Lou), Attention (Julie’s gift), Working Memory (goes with the Hourglass Timer), or Planning (goes with Green). So it must be Cognitive Flexibility.
3. From Clue 1, the Bonsai Tree, Green, and Planning go together.  Of the three unassigned people, Julie is Attention, and Roger did not use Green wrapping. Therefore, that is Betsy.
4. The remaining two gifts are the Headphones and the Hourglass Timer; colors are Gold and Blue. The Hourglass Timer goes with Working Memory and Julie’s cognitive skill is Attention.  Therefore, Julie = Headphones, Gold and Attention.
5. Therefore, Roger = Hourglass Timer, Blue and Working Memory.
