Do Brains Blink?

The research says that our brains do, in fact, “blink,” every time we shift our attention! When we shift our attention from one object to another, the activity of the neurons in the visual cortex (the part of the brain that processes visual information) is temporarily disrupted. It also turns out that if we are presented with a rapid series of images and there isn’t enough time between them, we won’t actually be aware or “see” that second image because it occurs during the “blink.”. Something to think about the next time you point something out to a companion who says, “What are you talking about? I didn’t see anything!”
