In this article, published on EdCircuit, Betsy Hill, president of BrainWare Learning, discusses the cognitive processes involved in Reception (taking in information through our senses), Perception (giving meaning to that information, and recognizing what we are seeing), Direction (holding information in mind and manipulating as well as controlling how it interacts with various other brain systems, such as our emotions), Memory (there are different types of memory, very important for educators), and Thinking (planning, making decisions and creating new ideas). It is the first in an ongoing series.
