BrainWare Learning Company Approved to Support School Improvement Initiatives in Indiana

In June, the Indiana Department of Education (INDOE) approved 35 companies as technical assistance partners for the State’s School Improvement efforts, including BrainWare Learning Company. In August, school and district personnel from across the state had an opportunity to meet one-on-one with technical assistance partners to explore how they can work together to help achieve the State’s ambitious goals under ESSA (the Every Student Succeeds Act). INDOE leaders explained to the school and district representatives, that the approved technical assistance partners have been thoroughly vetted by the Department and that their services and interventions had been determined to meet the evidence requirements of ESSA. Thus, schools who include any of the technical assistance partners’ solutions in grant applications, such as for Title I funds, can be confident that the solutions will be accepted.

Pre-approved solutions offered by BrainWare Learning Company for school improvement include:

  • Building each students learning capacity, enabling the development of executive functions and other cognitive skills that support academic success and social and emotional competence, using the most researched, comprehensive, integrated online cognitive training tool available
  • Providing an effective and easy-to-implement cognitive assessment that supports the development of and creates a personalized learning plan for each student, identifying the non-instructional reasons students may be struggling in reading, math, writing and study skills.
  • Professional development on the practical application of neuroscience to learning and teaching, from lesson design to classroom practice, including topics such as growth mindset, social and emotional learning, and the use of cognitive assessment and interventions as part of MTSS.
  • Collaborating on the development of effective implementation plans, the evaluation and assessment of the impact of programs on student achievement, and the effective use of data by instructional and support staff.

While schools may begin immediately to implement school improvement plans, INDOE emphasized that the impact is expected to occur over multiple years.

Like Indiana, all states have ESSA plans that have been approved by the US Department of Education, and BrainWare Learning Company’s school improvement solutions are available across the US. For more information, contact Roger Stark, rstark@mybrainware.com.
